Programs:

Home and Garden Tour: ARCH hosts a Historic Home and Garden tour on the last Saturday of June annually. Each year, ARCH works with a historic neighborhood in Fort Wayne, providing tour-planning expertise to the neighborhood and splitting the tour proceeds, so that both organizations can complete historic preservation projects. The 2009 Tour will be held in historic Southwood Park, adjoining Foster Park.

Free and Fun Lecture Series: Historic Gardens? Geothermal? How to paint? What is historic? Skyscrapers! Bungalows! and more. ARCH holds free and fun lectures monthly during the winter months at a variety of locations throughout Allen County and northeastern Indiana.

Heritage Trail: ARCH is the trustee of the Fort Wayne Heritage Trail--a series of four downtown walking tours that feature community history and local landmarks. Free maps are available at ARCH, the History Center, and the Visitor's Center.

Let's Go Downtown Walking Tours: ARCH offers  a downtown walking tour of architecture and history the first Friday of every month, April through November,  at 1:00 PM, beginning at the Visitor’s Center, 1021 South Calhoun.  From June-September we also offer a tour every Saturday morning, at 10:00am, starting at the Barr Street Market, at the corner of Barr and Wayne Street. Both  tours last 90 minutes, and travel approximately 1 mile through some of Fort Wayne’s “must-see” architectural gems. Always best to call and let us know how many to expect, so we have enough tour guides. 260-426-5117.

Classroom Tours and Activities: ARCH offers a variety of programs, activities, and power-point lectures for groups of all ages.

Charter Tours and Walks: ARCH offers step-on bus tour guides and walking tours. Cost is $50/hour, per tour guide. Contact Angie for specific information: aquinn@archfw.org

Southwood Park Historic Home and Garden Tour, Saturday, June 27th from 11:00am until 5:00pm. This annual event features historic homes and neighborhoods throughout the city. The Southwood Park Historic District has been nominated to the National Register of Historic Places and features exceptional homes in the Craftsman, Colonial Revival and Tudor, Spanish Eclectic, Contemporary and Ranch styles.

Picking the Perfect Paint—April 21st, 7pm, at the Tecumseh Branch Library, 1411 East State Boulevard.  Don Orban, Historic Preservation Planner for the City of Fort Wayne assists hundreds of homeowners each year in their quest for the perfect historic paint scheme. Join us as Don provides an introduction to the basics of picking great colors for every home, and for every style.

New Archaeology Discoveries for Allen County and Fort Wayne. Tuesday, May 5th, 7pm, large meeting room,of the Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, Fort Wayne. Presented by Robert McCullough, Ph. D. , and the  IPFW Archaeology Survey staff. The IPFW Archaeology Survey conducted a dig during the summer of 2008 in the northeast part of Fort Wayne, and their findings are changing the story of Indiana’s past.  Learn about the process and the findings at this family-friendly program.

Downtown Walking Tours:

ARCH will hold downtown walking tours of architecture and history the first Friday of every month, at 1:00 PM, beginning April 3rd, at the Visitor’s Center, 1021 South Calhoun. The tours last 90 minutes, and travel approximately 1 mile through some of Fort Wayne’s “must-see” architectural gems.  The cost for this activity is $5.00 for adults, free for children under 18.
